Truly Scrumptious Challenge 43 - An Easel Card with Rememberence

Hi,

I haven't been around in ages as have not felt like making any cards (my card supply is dwindling fast!!!)

Anyway, I thought yesterday that I needed to occupy my mind and thought that making a card would be a good way of doing that.

I decided to work with a Poppy Stamp, as it would have been my Dad's Birthday, however he passed away last November and as Poppies are for rememberance I thought this would be a good idea.

I decided to use the Sketch that was provided for by Truly Scrumptious - Challenge 43 - Easel Card as I thought the Sketch was lovely. I'm not normally good at making Easel Cards as I tend to lose my way on the inside bit, but I thing this one turned out ok.

Firstly I matted some Red Mirri-card onto the base card and then layered on some Black Mirri-card. I decided that I was going to stick to black and red for this card. The DP I brought from a local Craft Shop, but they did not have a name on them, they came in a pack of 5 A4 Sheets for a reasonable price!! I layered one piece of the DP on top of the Black Mirri-card, but before I did this, I did not want just a white fold down and so stuck some of the contrasting DP on the back and so when I did the fold down in the corner you would see the other paper. I then layed the contrasting paper onto Red Mirri-card to give it a background and attached it to the card.
The Image came from Kanban, in a set that I was given from my Mum (it was meant to be for Christmas, but she had forgot that it was being delivered and let me open the package whoops!!!). I stamped the Image and coloured it in using my Pro-markers, I used the Poppy colour for the red and Moss for the Green, I thought that it would be good using the Pro-markers as they would give a deep colour for the image which I was looking for. Both the Image and the Black border are raised from the card on Shaker tape to give added interest. I used a bow, which I made from Red Organza Ribbon and also some Card Candy which I got from Craftwork Cards.
For the Inside of the card I used some Black Mirri-card as the base and layered the DP, the same as the front of the card on top. I punched some Red Mirri-card using a Martha Stewart Vintage Lace Border Punch and matted some of the contrasting DP on top which I wrapped some ribbon around. I then attached this to the card using some Shaker Tape to make it raised. Finally I punched out a Martha Stewart Heart Punch using black mirri-card and put some red paper behind it, before attaching it to the card.

I hope you like the card.

Sketch and Stash - Challenge 43

Hi,

Haven't been blogging for ages, or making cards, not quite sure why I have been so busy. But trying to make up for it now.

I really need to get myself ready for Christmas and my Mum keeps asking if we should do somekind of Craft Fair, so I need to get started on making some Cards. So I've made this Christmas Card, I used the Sketch and Stash Challenge 43 Sketch. I love using Sketches as it takes all the guess work out of starting a card. This is quite a simple card, but good if you are making a bunch of them.

70th Birthday Card

Hi,

I was asked by my Mum to make a 70th Birthday Card for her friends husband (I have to say I am not sure why she asked me as she is just as crafty as me and enjoys making cards too). Ayway I decided to get out the mini stamp which I used on another card, as I thought that it seemed very apt, as the gentleman in question runs his own Driving School.

On to the card.

As you can see I also personalised the card with the numberplate. I thought that this was a nice touch (although, I have been told he didn't see it and had to be told about it, but guess thats men for you!!!)

One for the Boys!!!!

Hi,

I'm back again, that makes three days in a row, wow, I must be hooked on making cards at the moment.

I am sure like the rest of you, I find it hard to make a card for the boys / men in the world (not sure why they have to be so awkward). So I was pleased to find these Kanban Stamps of Retro Cars and thought that I would have a go.

I used the Sketch provided by Stamp with Fun - Challenge 72 to base my card on.

(I can only apologise about the state of this photo, my camera would just not focus on the image, couldn't really decide if I should include it in the Blog, but you can see the idea)

Cute Card Thursday Challenge 125 - Tree-mondous

Hi All,

I'm back again, this week has been a tough one. I have been taking my Lifeguard Qualification again and so there has been lots of swimming and also learning rescue techniques. Although I have been a lifeguard for 10 years, this is a re-take as we have to re-train every 2 years. This one has been extremely tough for me as I was meant to re-take in February but was rushed into hospital with a life threatening illness and so therefore I missed my re-take. So I have had to sit through another course. The exam is tomorrow and I am a little scared about it, but I guess if I don't pass then it is an achievement to get to where I am after what happened in February.

Anyway onto the card, I have to admit this was a joint effort with my Mum as she stamped the crackle effect at a card class and then brought it home (however, I did all the rest!!!!). We had recently brought some new stamps which could be used for men, why are they so hard to design cards for and I thought that it would look good on the background. Cute Card Thursday's Challenge this week is for a card with a tree on it so I thought that I would enter this one.

How I made the card:
As mentioned before my Mum stamped the crackle effect onto a piece of cream card, I then stamped the Tree Image over the top using a brown ink pad. I then used an old piece of cloth which I bunched up and dipped it into the brown ink pad and then shaded into the edges of the cream card. I then matted and layered different coloured brown, taupe and cream card onto a cream 6 x 6 card. I attached some ribbon and gems and also a sentiment which again was stamped in brown to match the tree.
Very simple but I like it.
Hopefully be back soon after the lifeguard course and exam!!!

I'm Back - Papertake Weekly Challenge - White and Bright

Hi All,

I'm back, I must apologise for not posting any cards during the last week. I have actually had Acute Tonsillitis and therefore have just not felt well enough to even think about cards and let alone making them. But I am feeling better now, although I still have the Acute Tonsillitis, the antibiotics just don't seem to be working!!!

Well anyway onto my card, although I have not felt well enough to make a card, I did look round all the challenges and made a note of the ones which I would like to enter when I felt better.

Therefore I picked the Papertake Weekly Challenge - White and Bright, which was to design a card which is White with another colour. I wasn't quite sure how to tackle this challenge but in the end I am quite pleased with the result, even if I do say so myself.

For this card I used the following:
  • A4 White Pearlised Card, made into a A5 Card
  • Pale Blue Pearlised Card
  • Dark Blue Pearlised Paper
  • White with Gold Pearlised Card
  • Cuttlebug Tree Embossing Folder
  • Pale Blue Grosgrain Ribbon
  • Paper flowers from my stash, which I highlighted with blue glitter
  • The Happy Birthday Sentiment I made myself on the computer as I wanted the writing in Blue.

I hope you like it

Sorry Bear for Just Cute Bears and Papertake Weekly Sketch

Hi,

Me again, hoping that it works this time!!!!!

For this card I used the Papertake Weekly Challenge Sketch # 45. I love making cards, with cute little bears in and so will enter this in a further 2 challenges, which I will list at the bottom.

For this card I used the following:

  • Image - Beccy's Place (great site for free downloads, which are just so cute). This one is called Prayer Bear, but he looks like he is saying sorry to me as well. I have coloured in the image using my Polychromos Pencils and blended with Sansodor.
  • Papers - Nancy Watt Collection for Making Cards - Stars and Stripes and also Seasonal Celebrations
  • Card - Embossed Mirror Card in Silver
  • Sentiment - I have created myself on the computer

I thought that I would leave this card plain and simple and therefore thought I could enter it into the following Challenges:

Papertake Weekly Challenge - Sketch #45

Just Cute Bears - Challenge #27 Bear Necessities

Teddy Stampers - Challenge #16 As You Wish

Must go now.

Hi All,

(Sorry this is the 2nd post of the same thing, as Blogger keeps doing some really weird things tome tonight!!!!).

Its been a busy day together with what is seeming to be a busy night as having to do things twice!! I've been in and out of swimming pools all day, either teaching or lifeguarding and now have the lovely aroma of Chlorine about me!!!

Well onto the Card. I was looking through Blog land and found that Stamp Something's theme was something Flowery, so I thought I would take up the Challenge, I used the Sketch from Friday Sketchers but have missed the deadline for that one.

For this card I used:
  • Image - Sliekjes Digi Stamps (fantastic Site). This was a free download. Coloured with my Polychromos and blended with Sansodor. I cut the image out using Nestabilities - Labels and layered it onto other card / paper.
  • Papers - Nancy Watt Collection for Making Cards Magazine - Flowers and Butterflies, other papers are from my stash.
  • Ribbon - Grosgrain ribbon in pale green
  • Flowers - Embelishments - make your own cards

Creative Expressions Challenges 71 - Animals

Morning to you all,

I am still busy creating further cards, but had a look round all the Challenge Blogs and Found that Creative Expressions Challenge for this week is Animals, so I thought that I would enter this simple card which I have made.

This card is just a simple one and not one that I normally do, as I tried to say away from all the embellishments that I normally use, I am sure it won't last for long.

Anyway I used the following for this card:
  • Image is from Pink Gem Designs Coloured with Promarkers
  • Papers, ribbon and gems are from my stash (which is old so can't remember where they came from!!)

I would like to enter this card in Creative Expressions Challenge 71 - Animals.

Hopefully will be back later with another card.

Christmas is Fast Approaching!!!!

Hi All,

I hate to say it but Christmas is fast approaching and so this year I have made a pact that I will be ready and not running round like a headless chicken with only a few days to go (but then again things can change, and I will probably be screaming that I'm not ready, yet again!!!).

I was searching through the Challenge Blogs and found that Just Cute Bears challenge for this week was 'Christmas in July', therefore what a great opportunity to create my first Christmas Card of the season.

I thought that I would go with a blue colour scheme as I wanted the card to have the impression of being cold, not sure if it has worked. What do you think?

For this card I used the following:
  • 6 x 6 White Scalloped edged Card
  • The Image is from Cuddly Buddly Crafts and is a freebie, so thank you to them. I have coloured it using my Polychromos pencils and blended with Sansador. I have also used some glitter on the fur on the hats of the bears and also where they are skating
  • Pale blue Glitter Card
  • Christmas Blue Snowflake Paper (sorry not sure of what it is as brought just one sheet and it had no name on it)
  • Blue and Silver Mirror Board which is embossed with dots
  • I punched some snowflakes in both Pale Blue Glitter Card and also Silver Mirror Board
  • I then found these wonderful Brads which are Snowflakes from my local craft shop and I couldn't resist using these.
  • The ribbon is from my stash and is a blue polka dot, thought that this might look like snow falling.
  • The Greeting, I have to say I made it myself on the computer.

I would like to enter this card in the Following Challenges:

Whoops missed the Just Cute Bears Challenge!!!

Hi,

As stated in the title of this post, it seems that I have missed the Deadline for the last 'Just Cute Bears' Challenge, seems that I managed to get all my dates muddled up and it finished before I managed to post my card. Oh well, these things happen I suppose.

Been a very busy weekend, as have been on a course for both of the days. Nothing relating to Card Marking though, it was a Rescue Test for Swimming Teachers and boy, did I feel the pain from all that exercise!!!!!

Well onto the card which I would have entered into the challenge, if I had not missed it!!!

For this card I used:
  • Main Stamp - Personal Impressions Everyday Bears Bear Hug, which I coloured in using Polychromos and blended with Sansador
  • Sentiment Stamp - Personal Impressions Everyday Words Happy Birthday
  • I used four different shades of Purple / Pink paper, some of which I backed onto plain white card
  • The ribbon, flowers and leaves were from my own stash.

Hope you like it.

Truely Scrumptious Challenge - How does your Garden Grow

Hi,

Seems that I have not been on here for ages!!!! Things have seemed to have all been happening, I took my car into the garage yesterday as it was making a horrible noise, only to be told that they would not let me drive it home again as it was likely to blow the engine (got to say pretty annoyed as only brought it 20 weeks ago!!!). A friend told me that maybe I should change my career, she thought F1 Driver would suit.

I thought that I woul get a courtesy car, but no, they had none!!! So completely without transport and I am on a course tomorrow and Sunday, typical.

Anyway enough of my ranting and onto my card.....

I made this card for my Auntie's birthday (sorry it is late now as can't deliever it, but hope she understands).

I have used two Tilda Stamps from Magnolia ,which I have coloured using Polychromos Pencils blended with Sansador. The papers are from my stash of lovely purple papers (I love purple). I have also ran through the Big Shot a piece of pearlised card, using the dotty/spotty embossing folder. The flowers I recently bought from Hobbycraft.

I really hope she likes this card, although it is late!!!

I would like to enter this card into the following Challenge,

http://trulyscrumptiouschallenges.blogspot.com/ - How does your garden grow?

I have never entered a Challenge before and so hope I am doing this right.

Anyway enough from me, must ring the garage to see if they are working on my car!!!!

Final Wedding Card

Hi all,

Now this is probably going to be the last time I manage three in one day!!!

This card I think is very simple, but looks really elegant, I so hope the person that I am making them for likes it as it is different from the other two.

Once again sorry if I am not sure what the items I have used, I will remember in future, promise.

  • Used a 6 x 6 Square Card with Scalloped edges on the front
  • Papers, flowers and ribbon are from Mum's Cousins Stash
  • Mirror Board and Sentiment Stamp from my Mum's Stash (yes she is a crafter too!!!)
  • Martha Stewart Heart Punch, which has been backed with the Maroon Plain Card and also a piece of Mirror Board
  • White card has been placed through the Big Shot using an embossing folder and layered onto a piece of Mirror Board

I think it looks very classic.

Take care all, and hopefully I will be back tomorrow with another card (very busy day though as three jobs to do)
